Reserving and Purchasing Kids from the Breeding Schedule
If you are interested in reserving a kid from the breeding schedule a $100 deposit will hold the kid of your choice. It is preferable if you make a 1st and 2nd choice, but not required. Once the doe kids, you will be notified of what the doe had and if the kid you have requested has been born. If the doe has the kid that you have requested, the kid must be paid for in full by 10 days of age and must be picked up by 3 weeks of age. If you can not pick up the kid by 3 weeks, a pick up date must be set and a $1 per day board per kid will be charged (board due at pickup). Kids not picked up by the date stated will become the property of the seller and all monies will be forfeited.
All kids are removed from their dams at birth and started on a lambar by 5 days of age. Kids are fed free-choice to promote good growth and development. Kids will be disbudded within 5-7 days of birth. Tattooing will be done by 3 weeks of age. For kids that are picked up at less than a week of age tattooing and disbudding will be the buyers responsibility. All kids will be either sold with registration applications or can be registered by me and transferred directly to the buyer (kids must be paid in full with a pick up date set before I will transfer to the new owner).
Any health tests, health certificates, or shipping charges will be the buyers responsibility. For kids being shipped by air, all extra fees must be paid in full before the kid can leave the farm.
Purchasing Animals from the Sales Page
When purchasing animals from the sales page I require half the purchase price as a non refundable deposit unless otherwise agreed upon. A deposit will hold the animal of your choice for 30 days while shipping arrangements are made. Should I have to hold an animal longer than 30 days full payment is expected as well as $5.00 per day charge for boarding. Bred does that are purchased and left here until they kid, I retain the right to keep any kids as payment for caring for the doe and kids. In the event the purchase is cancelled on my part, all payments will be refunded or transferred to another goat of your choice. Payment must be made in full before animals will leave the farm.
Deposits will not be refunded on animals due to cancellation on the buyer's part. By making a deposit you are committing yourself to the purchase of a goat.
Transporting Your Animals and Herd Health
It is your responsibility to transport your animals. Please make sure you bring a carrier large enough for the goat you are purchasing. All goats sold out of state must be accompanied by a health certificate. Health Certificates from my vet are $15.00. Should you wish to have any tests run I am happy to do so, however, you are required to pay for them in advance.
If you are out of state and need to have a transporter ship your goat, it is YOUR responsibility to find a transporter and have them contact me about picking up the goat. I am a very busy person and do not have time to try to find transporters and arrange shipping.
If you are purchasing a kid and need to have the kid flown by air, I will make all neccessary arrangements, book the flight, etc for you after I have received a $300 credit towards airline expenses. I also charge a $50 fuel fee to drive the kid to the airport. If the flight and other associated costs are less than $300 you will be refunded the difference, if the total comes to more than $300 the remainder must be paid before the kid leaves the farm. The buyer is responsible for all airline fees, crate expenses (if I have to purchase the crate) and any extraneous fees that arise from getting the kid ready for shipment.
The herd is tested CAE negative annually, each goat purchased will come with a copy of the most recent test results as proof of negative status. Any goat can be tested prior to purchase at the buyers expense. I can not guarantee kids to be CAE negative once they have left the farm because I have no way of knowing if they were accidentally given milk from a positive animal after they leave the property.
I have spot tested the herd for TB and Brucellosis with all negative results. I have never tested for Johnnes as the test is fairly unreliable and I have never had a goat with any symptoms. I also do not test for CL and have never had any abscesses in the herd.
All of the herd sires and several of the mature does in the herd have been DNA typed and have their DNA on file with UC Davis. If a buyer would like their animal to be DNA parentage verified that can be done at the buyer's expense. DNA typing through ADGA is $27 per goat, if the dam has not been typed and the buyer wants full parentage verification (not just sire verified) they would also be responsible for paying for the dam to be DNA typed.
Any extra testing can be done at the buyers expense.
Guarantees
I have decided to follow the American Dairy Goat Assoication's Recommended Trade Practices for Members.
I do not guarantee the fertility of does unless hermaphroditism becomes apparent as the animal matures. A doe sold as bred is not guaranteed to be pregnant, just that she recieved normal service from the buck.
I guarantee the fertility of my bucks. A buck, after reaching 1 year of age, should be able to serve and settle a doe. Should the buck prove to be a non-breeder, the buyer shall notify me within 60 days from the first time he was used for service, provided the animal was over 1 year of age at the time of service; and the buyer shall provide sufficient proof, such as a statement from a veterinarian, that said buck is sterile. The buyer is expected to provide reasonable care and feed. If the animal has been neglected, I guarantee nothing. If the animal is said to be sterile due to illness or disease the guarantee no longer applies.
I have the option of making a satisfactory exchange or refunding the money. In no case shall I be responsible for more than the selling price. Animals that are exchanged are done so at the purchasers expense. I require the original registration papers returned in an animal exchange. I do not guarantee any animal that is sold without registration papers. If a refund will be given, the animal must be returned back to me.
I can not guarantee health status once the goat has left the property as I have no control over what the animal is exposed to. I do guarantee animals to be healthy the day they leave the farm.
I am not difficult to work with, and am happy to help you out if you let me know what you want from the get-go.
It is the buyers responsibility to keep in contact with me. If I do not hear from you for an extended period of time, with no furthur payments made towards the animal you have chosen, I reserve the right to offer the animal back up for sale.
